Hanabria (History Summary)

Hanabria was born in the port village on Sakura Island.  Her mother was a popular Geisha named Sumiko.  She was well respected and lived a very comfortable life.  Sumiko had an unexpected pregnancy, which lead to an unwanted child, a girl she only called Musume, meaning daughter.   Musume was raised mostly by her mother’s servants, receiving little love or attention from her mother.  

As Musume grew, she spent most of her time in the kitchen with the cook learning how to cook, and how to use herbs.  She would go to the local market daily to smell the fresh herbs.  The ladies there grew fond of Musume and renamed her Hanabria, meaning flower petal, because of her love of flowers.  

Hanabria spent most of her day reading and learning all about herbs and their many uses. Her favorite thing to do with them is to make teas. Over the years she showed a natural talent for harvesting the herbs and makes teas for all needs, medicinal and general consumption.  Hanabria was also fascinated with Assassins.  

Several of the servants and ladies at the market looked after Hanabria making sure she everything she needed.  A few of their sons even taught her how to defend herself and also a few other tricks that might come in handy or might get her into trouble.

After Hanabria’s ninety-fifth birthday her mother became sick and passed away. Since she was Sumiko’s only child, she inherited everything.  She decided to leave Sakura Island and her mother’s life behind her to make a new life on her own.  Sumiko had acquired very nice possessions and a good amount of gold.  Hanabria sold items she did not want and paid for passage to Bartertown for her and her things.  

Once in Bartertown, she purchased a nice plot of land near the docks and built herself a tea house that included a place to live upstairs.  She had enough furniture and decorations to make the house very welcoming.  

The tea house because a popular place to go to enjoy a cup of tea and grab a bite to eat.  The towns people did not know must about the petite and unassuming business owner only that she was very private and kept to herself.  

All of the customers that visited the tea house have come to trust the hospitality and often use the facility to conduct everything from simple meals, romantic dinners to celebrations as well as private meetings. Hanabria enjoyed cooking and making tea for everyone, and while served them she managed to hear and learn all kinds of secrets. Many customers do not even notice her since she is so small and quiet.

Most of the patrons are polite and treat Hanabria with respect, except for one man. He was always rude and complained about everything.  One day when it had been a long day and Hanabria was tired and ready to close for the night he came into her shop and order his normal tea and plate of sushi.  She was so upset wit him she added some herbs to his tea to make him sleepy so he would leave early.  After a few days she heard a rumor about the man in town that fell into a deep sleep that put him in a coma then died.  It was at that moment when she decided to used her talent for more than a tea house.  

Hanabria used her talents and the information she would gather to take special jobs that paid well.  She began to live two lives, her public life and the other she kept private and hidden.  She would take jobs of a questionable nature always keeping her identity hidden.
