-in a pub or along the road, a bard who is member of the Oghma Circle learns you the news occurring about-

A recent report from respectable sources inform us of a number of skirmishes have erupted across the sea during the Vaikne-Solgrim War. Including several involving privateers known to be operating out of Black Gate and Avalorn. No major naval battles have yet to be fought though fresh frigates are known to have launched recently from Landstar Harbor on Solgrim. Escalation of operations involving blockade-capable ships is evident as a line is beginning to form some distance away from Sol's Hope by Solgrim vessels with suggestion they will begin closing in at any time.

Meanwhile, land troops have yet to clash though it is expected to be soon and upon Cadia, the territory between the two nations and home to several of the Barony's mines and military installations. The Bronze Legion is recruiting many young men and women from Vaikne as well as experienced adventurers from Cadia in expectation of the coming battles. Fresh siege engines have also arrived from Vaikne, reinforcing the already well defended Barony held territories. Whilst the Solgrim's illustrious mage college, The Thaumaturgic, has lent several of its star students to the war effort

With things only beginning, there is currently no end in sight to this conflict.

In other news...

Roughly half of the Helmites who have appeared throughout the last few years have begun to gather in a collective force and are referring to themselves as the Shields of the Unsleeping Eyes.  This collective force has taken over the twin islands of Imar and Vinelund and are in the process of fortifying it following a brief and intense standoff with Vaikne forces.  These are the Helmites from the Maztican settlement of Helmsport and have a sizable number of various Mazticans with them.

A host of metallic dragons were seen flying off the coast of Cadia, a rare sighting since the "metallic only dracorage attack" sometime ago according to scholars of the Stygian Academy at Sol's Hope.

...keep your ear open and you may learn of something new soon!
