Rae'lyna Blake

Sabbal was the youngest daughter of the House Baenra in Menzoberranzan. She was defiant, always trying to do her own thing; which often kept her in trouble with the House. While Sabbal was still in training to become a priestess, she met and was seduced by a Shur. The resulting child, Rae'lyna, was cause for great anger from the Matron Mother, for her first child was intended to be a Draegloth upon completion of her training as a priestess. Worse yet, when Rae’lyna started showing sign of her father, including small horns, a tail, and her changing eye color, Sabbal was ordered by the Matron Mother to sacrifice the child to Lolth. Sabbal chose instead to flee to the surface where she was hunted constantly by agents of the House. After a long period of running she was mortally wounded. She was found dying by a human couple, Lucas and Josephine Blake, who were kind and compassionate and did all they could to save Sabbal, but it was not enough. Before she died, Sabbal explained that she was fleeing the Underdark and her daughter was in danger. She told them to keep Rae'lyna a secret and to tell no one that she was the granddaughter of the Matron Mother Baenra. Unable to have a child of their own, they were excited to take the girl in and raise her.
